About Us

Our Origin Story

At Give A Dollar A Day, we believe in the transformative power of simple acts of generosity. Our story began around a Shabbat table, where deep conversations often centered on the challenges faced by everyday people and local causes. Unlike large organizations with established fundraising channels, many individuals and small communities struggle to access meaningful support.

One evening, a friend at the table reminisced about the iconic commercials of years past: “For just $3 a day, you can feed a child for a month.” That nostalgic memory sparked an idea—what if we could create a simple, direct, and impactful way to connect donors and those in need? From that spark, Give A Dollar A Day was born.

Founded by Amir Cohen, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, volunteer EMT with United Hatzalah, and auxiliary police officer, the organization reflects Amir’s lifelong commitment to service. Known for his willingness to help—whether it’s moving furniture, fixing items, or providing support—Amir is often the first to step up when someone is in need. Recognizing the financial challenges some people face, Amir began bridging the gap by connecting donors with recipients for immediate, tangible support.

Our mission is rooted in the timeless value of tzedaka—charitable giving. By focusing on micro-donations, we make generosity accessible to everyone. Every dollar contributes to meaningful change, creating a direct line from the donor’s heart to the recipient’s need.

At Give A Dollar A Day, we honor tradition with a modern approach, building a community where every act of kindness counts. Together, we’re proving that small contributions can lead to big impacts, one dollar at a time.

Join us in making the world a little brighter, one meaningful connection at a time.
